"Lou Ferrigno in a powerful spectacle of muscle, might
and magic!"
"The incredible Lou Ferrigno, two-time Mr. Universe winner and
star of 'Hercules', teams up with the alluring Sybil Danning in this spectacular
clash between the titanic forces of good and evil. As the mighty barbarian
Han, Ferrigno wieldsd the mystical Sword of Achilles to vanquish a deadly
evil that spreads across the countryside of ancient Rome. Beautiful Carla
Ferrigno makes her screen debut as Pandora, the courageous leader of a
group of women who seeks the one man who can free the village of Clusium
from the wicked Nicerote. Nicerote, half man, half god and completely evil,
leads his legion of soldiers in a merciless campaign of terror and murder."
Han assembles a fearless group of seven that includes Scipio, a loyal
ex-gladiator; Goliath, a bruising hulk; and Julia (Danning), a stunning
warrior who proves herself a match for any man. Together the Seven Magnificent
Gladiators confront the seemingly invincible Nicerote on the field of battle.
It's a colossal collision of muscle and steel, the likes of which will
not soon be forgotten!" (From the video cover)

"An unashamed attempt by Cannon to recreate 1960s Italian pepla,
this generally works and is undemanding fun. -- With Ferrignos torso vying
for screen time with Dannings cleavage, there truly is something here
for everybody to enjoy." MJSimpson.co.uk
"Laughable special effects and even worse acting." E! Online
"Lou, who somehow always looks like he's made of synthetic materials,
plays a brave (well, it's hard to tell) barbarian who pulls together a
small band of ex-gladiators (well, it's hard to tell where they come from
and exactly who they are, but they seem to be ex-gladiators) to save a
village from the evil son of a blind woman. One character in the film asks
"does this barbarian have a brain?" If any members of the audience
ask this question, they're not paying attention. The answer is a definite
no." Demian Katz, MSTable Movies - Read

"You can tell from the opening credits that this is going to be
one of those movies. I wonder what the United States did to provoke our
ally, Italy, into sending us this nuclear bomb." Crappy

Trivia
"In 1982 Mattei was set to direct Hercules, but since the producers
decided to hire Luigi Cozzi instead, Mattei shot his own film the following
year. Funnily enough outtakes from the film was bought by Cozzi and ended
up in Hercules 2." Violent
Vision (Actually, "Gladiators" was shot in 1982, shortly
before "Hercules")
The film is loosely based on Akira Kurosava's "The Seven Samurai"
(1954) and 60's sword & sandal epics such as "Gladiators Seven"
starring Richard Harrrison.

"Try as Lou might, he can't really act, but neither can most of
the other people in this movie. Sybil Danning is at least a treat to look
at as she prances around in skimpy leather outfits... although her role
in this film seems hardly necessary. Ferrigno's wife also acts in this
film, or at least tries to... well maybe she didn't try. I don't think
anyone on the set took this film seriously other than the director. How
else could one explain how utterly ridiculous this film is?" Aylmer's
Reviews
"Lou Ferrigno (the poor man's Arnold Schwarzenegger) in a dull
story of musclebound Italians (ancient gladiators) fighting somebody for
some reason (hey, its been a while since I saw it, ok?)." Charles
McGrew
"Some women may enjoy watching Lou run around in his tunic, and
some men may like watching Sybil Danning in her skimpy outfit, but make
no mistake, this is a bad film. It is so bad that it is worth watching.
The film is so poorly done that it becomes, unintentionally, a comedy.
In the final combat scene, be sure to rewind the tape and advance frame
by frame as one guy is hit in the head by a rock. Yes, the rock does BEND
around his head - the wonders of foam rubber! While there may be no redeeming
value to this film, it is worth watching with friends, beer and a large
bowl of snacks. It will leave you in tears because you will laugh so much."
